Folk Rising™ Vision

In the 1960's, when the U.S. was in the midst of an extremely violent, unpopular foreign war and faced with many major divisive issues at home, a new breed of contemporary folk music evolved which addressed the social and political issues and helped our great country through those turbulent times.

Folk Rising™ 's sincere hope is that contemporary folk* music can again evolve and combine the best of the old and the new to help bring our brave soldiers home and heal our country's wounds as it did in the 1960's.

Folk Rising™ Long Term Goal

Help develop Sioux Falls, SD into a center for regional professional and amateur folk* musicians to gain exposure for their material, meet other like minded musicians / enthusiasts, have fun and learn through listening and playing with a variety of other regional musicians.

* Definition of "folk" music for these purposes is very broad and includes (but is not limited to) older traditional folk music, 1960's protest songs, traditional country, folk-blues, roots music, Americana music, new-folk, and contemporary acoustic music.
